If you’re planning to study at UOW immediately after finishing your HSC, International Baccalaureate (IB), or an interstate equivalent, you can apply for Early Admission to this course. Applications can be submitted via the UOW Early Admission website during the designated period, usually June – August each year.

Overview

The Bachelor of Criminology - Bachelor of Laws double degree provides students with a complementary pathway for students seeking to understand both the legal frameworks that govern society, and the complex causes and responses to crime. 

The Bachelor of Criminology provides a comprehensive understanding of crime and justice. You'll examine what drives crime and victimisation, how societies respond through police, courts and prisons, and use empirical evident to reflect on their effectiveness and impact. Through hands-on learning, you'll apply real research methods to live issues: youth crime, gender-based violence, human trafficking, environmental harm. You'll learn from researchers with local, national and international reach, working at the frontier of social justice and policy reform. 

The Bachelor of Laws equips you with a comprehensive legal education. This world-class degree provides you with a thorough grounding in the law, the social and ethical context in which law operates, while equipping you with essential practical skills including an internship and integrated skills program.

By completing your law degree at UOW, you are completing an academic qualification that is recognised for admission as a lawyer in Australia, subject to completing state-approved Practical Legal Training (PLT).   • Academic Entry Requirements

    Applicants must achieve the required score in a previous qualification, equivalent to completing at least 13 years of schooling in Australia.

Compulsory Work Based Placement
This course includes a total of 140 hours of compulsory work-based placements, completed over 4 weeks (at 35 hours per week).

  • Workload

    Full-Time Study Load

    As a full-time student, you can expect to commit around 48 hours of study per week. This includes class time and independent study. You may need to factor more time for examination study, practical work and placements.
