Lab application process

It's important to review the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences (EIS) laboratory safety manual to ensure readiness and awareness of lab risks. Additionally, for access to environmental engineering laboratories, you must complete the biosafety module in Moodle.

EIS laboratory procedure

1. Safety training 

  • Take the in Moodle.
  • For access to environmental engineering laboratories in buildings 6 and 8, the online course must also be completed in addition to the EIS induction assessment quiz.
  • Certificates are issued upon passing.

2. Local lab induction and acknowledgment 

  • Complete lab induction with technical staff or appropriate training officer. Laboratory technical staff or the appropriate training officer's details can be obtained from the Senior Technical Officer WHS.

  • Get signatures from the appropriate training officer and academic supervisor 
  • Submit the form, along with your quiz certificate and local induction acknowledgment, to the technical operations manager for approval 

Note: After-hours access to EIS laboratories will only be granted under special circumstances and will be assessed against risk.

To request support from the manufacturing workshop, electrical workshop, CMEA Labs or materials labs teams, use the .
