Honorary Chapter Scholarship Fund

For more than fifty years, people connected to UOW have helped shape this University. The Honorary Chapter Scholarship Fund is one way that spirit of generosity continues today.

The Honorary Chapter brings together those recognised through an Honorary degree, Emeritus Professorship, or University Fellowship. People who understand what it means to contribute to something larger than yourself. Through the Honorary Chapter Scholarship Fund, that commitment becomes practical support for students who need it most.

Why the Honorary Chapter Scholarship matters

For many students, the greatest challenge is not securing an offer to study. It is being able to continue while faced with significant hurdles through to graduation. Travel, textbooks, placement requirements, and everyday living expenses can quickly become overwhelming — and many students face additional challenges such as being the first in their family to attend university, living regionally or remotely, or managing disability or caring responsibilities.

Each Honorary Chapter Scholarship, valued at $3,000, provides timely support that can remove those barriers and help a student continue their studies with greater confidence. The scholarship exists for one reason: to ensure that talent, not circumstances, shapes a student's future.

With your support, you will help students:

  • ease the burden of essential study and living costs
  • stay focused on their studies with greater confidence and stability
  • persist through periods of financial, personal, or cultural challenge
  • continue building a future that may otherwise feel out of reach

There were nights I studied long after my kids were asleep, and mornings I drove to placement before the sun came up. Through all of it, the support behind me reminded me that I was capable, that I belonged here, and that my lived experience mattered. This scholarship helped shape the nurse I am becoming, one grounded in compassion, resilience, and a deep understanding of what it means to struggle and still show up.
