There are 6 student positions available across the committees as follows:
Each position is a 2 year term from 1 July, 2026 to 30 June, 2028.
Each Committee meets 4 - 5 times each year. Meetings are generally held on the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ campus, but online attendance is welcomed. Becoming a member of one of the Committees will automatically entitle you to become a member of the , UOW's peak student advisory group to the Vice-Chancellor.
To be eligible as a candidate for the student positions, you must not be employed as as academic or professional staff member of the University at 0.5 FTE or greater.
To be eligible for one of the following committees you must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree or a graduate certificate, graduate diploma or masters by coursework degree at a UOW onshore campus.
To be eligible for the following committee you must be enrolled in a PhD, professional doctorate or Masters by Research degree at a UOW onshore campus.

Academic Senate is the peak body for advising the University Council and the Vice-Chancellor on academic matters and broad issues affecting academic excellence at the University.
As a student member of the Academic Senate you will learn about how complex organisations make decisions, and how to work with others to understand problems and develop new solutions. This is a great opportunity to develop skills for your career outside the University and gain UOWx recognition.
As a student member of Academic Senate, you will also hold an ex officio role on the Student Advisory Council.
