Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
UOW uses MFA for several UOW systems and applications. During your first login to these systems, you will need to set up your MFA and verify your login.
Setting up MFA on your student account
1. Go to the .
2. Enter your student username and password when prompted.
3. The system will check if MFA is configured on your account.
If MFA is already set up: the 'Success' page is displayed and you can proceed to step 4.
If MFA is not set up: you will be prompted through the set up process. Click Next to begin and follow the prompts.
If installing the , ensure you download the correct app by Microsoft Corporation. Other apps may have similar icons. This is a free application and payment is NOT required.
Note: UOW uses three methods for MFA: Microsoft Authenticator app, SMS, and callback phone. The Microsoft Authenticator app is the UOW supported app and more secure than SMS or callback phone.
4. After you have setup MFA, click the 'Opt in for MFA' button to activate MFA on your account. This process will take about 10-15 minutes to take effect.
Note: If you are already using MFA for the VPN, do this without connecting to the VPN.
5. You will be directed back to the MFA Test page.
6. Your student account is now ready to use MFA.
Authentication methods
On the MFA test page, click on the 'Check Security Info' button to view your current information, or to It's strongly recommend that you set up an alternative MFA method.
