NCP Mobility and Semester Opportunities

The New Colombo Plan (NCP) is an Australian Government initiative that supports Australian undergraduate university students in undertaking immersive learning and internship experiences in the Indo-Pacific. The NCP Mobility and Semester Programs allow universities to apply for student travel grants for credit-bearing experiences of varying lengths, which may include structured learning, internships, practicums, language training, and/or research. Mobility

Explore Indonesia’s cutting-edge mining and critical minerals sector on this immersive 4-week study tour in Bandung, delivered in partnership with the renowned Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). Gain hands-on industry experience through site visits, expert lectures, and collaborative research while building global networks. Develop in-demand skills in sustainable mining and intercultural communication in one of the world’s most important regions for the clean energy transition.

Engineering students can participate in this four-week study tour program to observe and learn about renewable energy technology development and the market in China. The program will involve academic sessions with Beijing Jiaotong University, Taiyuan University of Technology, and Tiangong University, as well as laboratory tours, language classes, and activities with local students.

Join a four-week program in Vietnam exploring how digital transformation and foreign investment are shaping one of the Indo-Pacific’s fastest-growing economies. Delivered across Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and hosted by Foreign Trade University, the program combines academic seminars, industry engagement, and cultural immersion to provide a practical understanding of Vietnam’s emerging digital economy.

This four-week program provides Law students with the opportunity to complete a Law elective at the University of Brawijaya in Indonesia. You’ll examine how AI is reshaping regulatory landscapes of Australia and Indonesia and collaborate with Indonesian students to design innovative legal and policy solutions to real-world problems.

Step into China’s fast-moving sustainability landscape in this immersive study tour based in Jinan and hosted by Shandong University of Finance and Economics. Delivered in conjunction with ‘Cybersecurity & Coding short course in China’, you will explore how climate change, carbon markets, and emerging technologies are transforming business through expert seminars, a real-world carbon trading simulation, and industry visits to organisations leading China’s green transition.

Complete your 4 week (20 working days) Legal Internship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This program allows students to enhance their understanding of the challenges and benefits of global legal practice, while developing their workplace skills and expertise. You’ll broaden your cultural awareness, gain an appreciation for how the law operates and is practiced in Malaysia, and gain exposure to postgraduate employment and study options overseas. Participating in the New Colombo Plan (NCP) through UOW was easily one of the most enjoyable and rewarding parts of my degree.
