Public transport

Catching public transport is inexpensive and easy. The ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ area is well serviced by the train, and a range of free shuttle buses and paid buses.

Around 25 per cent of UOW students, staff and visitors travel by bus to the campus everyday. 

The North Gong (NG) Shuttle is a free UOW bus service for staff, students and visitors for travel to and from the North ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Train Station. This service is operated using new, fully electric zero emissions buses.  All UOW buses are low floor wheelchair accessible.

The Gong Shuttle is a free ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ shuttle bus service funded by Transport for NSW, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ City Council and UOW.  All buses operating on this service are low floor wheelchair accessible. 

There are also a range of paid buses that operate directly to the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Campus, or connect to one of the free shuttle buses. 

Free shuttle buses

The NG Shuttle links the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ campus with North ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Station. Route 9 stops around the Ring Road, and Route 9N goes directly to Northfields Ave bus interchange. The Shuttle operates on weekdays year-round (excluding public holidays) but service times reduce out of session.

This service travels in clockwise (55C) and anticlockwise (55A) loops connecting UOW to the city, the beach, Innovation Campus, Campus East and Fairy Meadow. This service operates all year round on weekdays, weekends and public holidays, but the frequency varies depending on the day of the week.

Catching other buses or the train

There are many other public transport options available in the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ area. Use the Transport for NSW  or the  app to plan your journey. You will need to use an Opal card or credit card (contactless payment) to travel on the train or bus (other than the free shuttles).

The following buses travel direct to UOW:

  •  from Dapto via the Princes Highway, through Unanderra and Figtree and UOW via Robsons Road.
  •  from ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½, Mangerton, Figtree, Mount Keira and UOW via Robsons Road.
  •  from Shellharbour via Shell Cove, Flinders, Warrawong, Windang, Primbee, Warilla.
  •   from Austinmer Station to University of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½.
  •  from Campbelltown to ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½.

If you are travelling by train, North ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Station is the closest to the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Campus, on the South Coast line. Getting from the station to campus is a short 15 minute walk, ride or a five minute trip on the free NG Shuttle bus.
