Psychosocial Safety

Psychosocial safety is important in the workplace as exposure to psychosocial hazards can put employees at risk of both psychological and physical harm.

Psychosocial hazards and risks

A psychosocial hazard is anything that could cause psychological harm (e.g. harm someone’s mental health). The chance that these psychosocial hazards will cause harm, and what could happen if someone is exposed to these hazards is defined as a psychosocial risk.
